Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need training to use it?
No formal training is required. The intuitive pistol design, laser sight, and simple safety mechanism make it accessible for first-time users. However, we recommend familiarizing yourself with the device and practicing target acquisition. Axon offers free online training resources.
What's the difference between a TASER and a stun gun?
Traditional stun guns require direct contact — you must touch the attacker. A TASER device fires probes that can incapacitate from up to 15 feet away. The Pulse 2 functions as both: it fires cartridges at range AND works as a contact stun device if needed.
Does it work through clothing?
Yes. The probes are designed to penetrate up to 2 inches of clothing. The NMI effect works regardless of pain tolerance, drug influence, or physical size — it causes involuntary muscle contraction.
Is it safe? Can it cause permanent injury?
TASER devices have been used millions of times by law enforcement with an exceptional safety record. The 30-second NMI cycle causes temporary incapacitation with no lasting effects. However, as with any defensive tool, risks exist for individuals with certain heart conditions.
Q: How do I replace the cartridges?
Cartridges slide into the front of the device and lock in place. Replacement cartridges are available in 2-packs. Each cartridge is single-use — once fired, it must be replaced.
