Q: Is this the same TASER used by police? A: Yes. The X1 uses the same NMI technology trusted by 18,000+ law enforcement agencies worldwide, including NYPD, Chicago PD, and U.S. Marshals. The only difference is range: civilian cartridges reach 15 feet; law enforcement cartridges reach 21 feet.
Q: Will it work on someone on drugs or alcohol? A: Yes. Unlike pain-based stun guns, the TASER X1 uses Neuromuscular Incapacitation (NMI) which overrides muscle control regardless of pain tolerance, intoxication, or mental state. This is why law enforcement relies on TASER technology for combative subjects.
Q: How long does the incapacitation last? A: Each trigger pull delivers 5 seconds of NMI. You can pull the trigger again for additional 5-second cycles, or leave the device running for up to 30 seconds continuous—giving you time to escape and call for help.
Q: What if I miss or only one probe hits? A: The X1 has a backup contact-stun capability. If probes don't deploy properly, you can use the device in direct contact mode for close-quarters defense (pain compliance). The targeting laser helps ensure accurate first shots.
Q: Is it legal in my state? A: TASER devices are legal in 49 states. They are NOT legal in Hawaii and Rhode Island. Some states and cities have additional restrictions. Check your local laws before purchasing.
Q: How do the probes work? A: When you pull the trigger, compressed nitrogen propels two barbed probes connected by thin wires. The probes penetrate clothing and skin, creating an electrical circuit. The TASER then delivers controlled pulses that cause involuntary muscle contractions. Probes should land at least 4-12 inches apart for effective NMI.
